Is there somewhere in the software a means of repeating placement of a single component ad-infinitum ?

I have one component which consistently fails imaging and I need to tweak the cdf..

All I can think of is to create a job with just that component in..

surely there must be a shortcut ?

Go to the edit the CDF for the package in question, check the box "Run-time test".

Yes - do this for any new part you define. It will select parts with this ticked to place first, and repeat the vision until you click "no" to the "Edit CDF" prompt.
Annoyingly what it won't let you do is repeat the pick, so if you have a mis-pick (or feeder is out of step on multi-index)  is , you have to say 'no', stop the job (Spacebar), re-edit the CDF to re-enable run-time test, and go again.
If only the "Edit CDF" prompt had a "Dump and pick another" option....
Another thing that would be really nice would be a key that enabled run-time test on the part currently failing vision, so you could do tweaks really easily mid-job.
The latter might potentially be something that could be hacked with software that looks at the files and jumps in and edits.
