Hi Guys, As I become more familiar with the RV4s I am starting to see a weakness in some areas
ie the teaching of PCB refs using the Nozzle can be quite difficult to see with your head in the machine
etc.

Is it not possible to use the Fid Camera for this operation?

Mike

Yes - just click 'camera'  in the move-button dialog. Bear in mind that PCB refs don't need to be super-accurate as fid correction will correct any error.

Alex

Hi yes I take your point with regard to the Fids thanks for that, however another area I find a real pain is teaching the pick posistion of the components with the nozzle.

with a Juki 570L you could teach the Pick Posistion with the Camera, what, I find with the RV is if you drive the Nozzle to a PCB ref then look at it with the Fid Camera it is not looking at the same point...
Is this normal? If I could get the offset between Camera and Nozzle exact could I then use
the Fid Camera to teach the pick posistion or is this not possible due to rotation of the arm?

Mike

The offsets between fid camera and nozzle do seem to increase in the feeder areas - I don't know if the grid calibration covers these areas, so this may at least partly explain it. You can at least get fairly close though.
If you've not already done so, check out my Joystick hack. This makes setup a lot quicker as you can keep your eye on the nozzle. A nice bright light helps - at some point I intend to add some white LEDs around the head to make it easier to see the nozzle.
Another thing to be aware of is that if the position is slightly off, the software adjusts the pick position based on the camera resault (unless the "lock feeders" option is set in the CDF), so a less-than-perfect position should progressively correct itself.

Thanks for that Mike, I have another problem with one of the Machines Fid Camera and that is the Focus...
It appears to be out of Focus and when I try to edit the focus there is a figure of 1000 in the box, but I can
not change it. Is it a case of slacking of the Grub Screws and moving it up and down?
