PXC2.VXD Error
« on: November 12, 2015, 05:10:04 PM »
Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.

When trying to open RVplace I get the error shown on the picture.

Has anyone seen this error before and anybody have any idea how to fix this?

When you reinstalled, did you reinstall windows too or just the RV software?
IRQ errors those were the days eh. However IRQ 0 is a reserved interrupt for the system timer, you cannot reassign it & I wouldn't expect to encounter a conflict because of its status.
I could hazard a guess that access to the system timer would be useful to the RV Software and that for whatever reason the driver layer through which it accesses said timer is having a bad day. You could have a look in device manager for some exclamation marks...

Hi

Thanks for your responce.

I did not reinstall windows, just the RV software. I will have a look at device manager in the morning.

Could this be a hardware problem, either in the PC of in the control box?

IIRC, device manager doesn't come into it as the PXC driver is direct access
and not installed within Windows. In fact, I think I obtained the PXC drivers
from somewhere when I did a reinstall and when I started RV is was seriously
unhappy that Windows has already acquired the hardware.
This seems more like the PCI configuration tables are reporting the wrong IRQ
so the PXC vxd tries to capture it and fails as it's already (correctly) in use
by the systimer.
The things that spring to mind:
- Another driver has incorrectly interacted with that hardware
- The card isn't responding to the PCI configuration request properly (faulty
or dirty contacts)
- version mismatch between the PXC vxd supplied with RV and your card.

I'm not 100% sure but I think this may be related to the video grab card. As far as I am aware there are two different ones used on RV machines and if you have the driver for the wrong one installed I do remember seeing messages and an application crash.

I might be able to have a poke around and find out more if needed.

Thanks for all your replys. We seem to be back up and running as normal now. Not too sure what I have done to fix the problem but it's working again.
