Heh, in my home town. Feel a bit daft buying one recently the
other side of the country now! Ah well.

Interestingly, the rotate mechanism is different to my RV1s
and appears to be direct drive. Mine is belt drive. I wonder
which is the older/newer design. I can only think that having
the stepper on the end of the arm might have higher inertia.

In my limited experience of seeing different machines, I have seen ones like you describe with a belt driven 'R' axis and ones like mine which has the 'R' motor directly driving the shaft as inline with the head.

As far as I know the latter is the RVx'S' type machine, which was the later version, and the belt driven one was the older non -S variant.

My belt drive is marked RV1S. I thought S refered to one with visioning
and the RV1 didn't have a camera.
