I have a problem again with one of my RV4s. The are a few problems i have so will list them all

1, Sometimes when turning the pc on all 4 LEDs flash on the control card inside the pc as expected bt when loading a job all 4 LEDs flash in turn bt then no movement from the head?

2, Also when powering up the pc i have LEDs on the DSP cards stay on constant, not come on at all, flash at a different rate to the rest of the the LEDs

I can usually get the machine going but can take over an hour sometimes by the time iv powered the whole thing down and back up again (iv currently done atleast 10 power cycles this morning and still nothing) I have replaced DSP cards that i have found to be faulty and this cured the problem mainly but it seems to be getting worse rarther than better, also it can be random as to which DSP card hangs. Things also seem to improve after the machine has been sat doing nothing for a few days.

Any help welcome

Try using the 'Armtest.exe' program to see if there are any issues with reading the limit sensors etc on the arm. I think this would tend to produce an error message when running the machine, but may not always.

On power up, the 4 DSP cards should flash together. This is good. When you run a test using 'DSPtest.exe' you should see them do the same flash routine, but in sequence i.e. one card at a time. I think it would also do this when you load a job as it initialises them at that point also.

If you are finding there are some DSP cards where the LED stays on constantly and they are new cards, then my suspicion is the ISA mothercard they plug in to. Can you swap this out with your other machine to test?

Thanks for the reply, it turns out that the actual motherboard of the pc has failed meaning the port that the ISA board plugs into doesn't open all the time. Have a new motherboard on the way so hopefully this will sort my problems
