Other low-end Pick/Place machines / eBay special
July 20, 2020, 12:44:30 PM
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quad-Pick-And-Place/124261845178

Never seen one in person but these have a reputation for being well built workhorses in a neat little package, support of some sort still exists from PPM in the US(who sell new upgraded feeders & updated software) or presumably Tronteq in UK/EU.

For Sale/Wanted, Suppliers / Mekko CR350 Reflow Oven
February 10, 2020, 04:46:01 PM
Due to the arrival of a much larger Forced Air Convection oven we are parting ways with our 2002 Mekko CR350.
This is a PC controlled 5 zone Infra Red Reflow oven with a heated length of ~1.15metres. Dimensions are 235x60x120CM  LDH.
3-Phase power.
The cabinet is on castors.
Has been used up until today to reflow lead free PCB assemblies with some restrictions.
Mesh belt conveyor is 300mm wide although in practice the best delta is found in the central 200mm.

£250 or best offers, sold as seen.

For Sale/Wanted, Suppliers / Craigslist
November 16, 2017, 11:28:34 AM
I've never used craigslist myself was surprised to notice pick and place machine craigslist listings come up in google results. Currently there are apparent listinga for a Europlacer (or 3 or 4..) one of those nasty little Maddeltechs and a Phillips machine (with an incorrect YOM). A quick browse would shows a considerable amount of kit on there, especially if you like lathes & CNC. Much of it seems to be posted under "London" even when it isn't really.

For Sale/Wanted, Suppliers / Neoden
February 21, 2017, 02:34:57 PM
Somewhat surprising to me but apparently you can now buy those little Neoden in the UK, from Blakell Europlacer of all places. I don't see them on the website but apparently £10-12k gets you one without the import hassle + support and training.

For Sale/Wanted, Suppliers / Dima Pick and Place
May 18, 2016, 11:53:52 AM
Not my listing..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dima-HP-110-Pick-and-place-machine-with-150-feeders-/272241108706?hash=item3f62d5a6e2:g:-sQAAOSwl-FXNLKW

We looked at this model as part of our research when buying a machine, they seem to be pretty robust well built machines. Dima still exists (part of Nordson) so there should even be support available, Dima was represented by KaiserTech and then etek-europe and currently APP Electronics.
Feeders are very compact as the reels sit in the trough underneath looks like they started around €600 each (8 and 12mm) new about 3 years ago.

This TV show http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/takepart/most_spectacular_backyard_builds is actively shopping around for participants, seems rather late in the day given the cut off dates so perhaps either they are short of applicants in general or electronics types in particular.

http://www.placecomponents.com/ could be interesting. Also appears to be at least one other related project in the works somewhere

For Sale/Wanted, Suppliers / Auction
May 31, 2014, 02:59:04 PM
http://www.ppauctions.com/auction.php?id=113 there is a Versatronics machine in there and a basic Essemtec printer. I think possibly the BBC auction also may include some electronic test equipment amongst the mixing desks, speakers and furniture.

For Sale/Wanted, Suppliers / Custom Crimp dies
February 04, 2014, 12:07:49 PM
Hi folks,
possibly a long shot, but does anyone know of a good place in the UK to obtain custom dies for an automated crimping machine? Sadly the query is 2nd hand so all I know is its allegedly a Tyco machine.

http://www.shawline.co.uk/product.php?id_product=162, dunno about feeders or what kinda life you'd get out of it but it looks reasonably affordable.
Interesting to note Shawline are also now selling those rather horrid looking Manncorp branded MDC machines

RV Software / Extracting PnP data from a TFR file
June 24, 2013, 04:18:26 PM
It may or may not be of interest to anyone on here but all of my TFR files were generated using RVGerber. This meant when we acquired a new machine we did not have any "standard" pick and place files for many of our products. To make the process as painless as possible we created a small Java application that extracted the placement data and exported it to a CSV file. In addition it compared the stored part numbers against a CSV export of our correct ones so that part numbers I had made up or typed incorrectly/inconsistently were replaced with genuine ones.

If anyone would like a copy (full source included) do let me know. There are a few bugs/quirks remaining but it was adequate to my needs at the time so these have not been fixed - however with full source that is an option open to all.

Just spotted a letter from way back when in amongst the RV4 paperwork. Seemingly this company was already providing support for RV1,2,3 & Dispense machines at the time of Versatronics demise and was offering a similar service to RV1s & RV4s owners. Wonder what became of them and their expertise in this field, the company name at least still appears to exist.

For Sale/Wanted, Suppliers / RV4s
January 17, 2013, 11:26:37 AM
Hi all,
Our RV4s is now no longer needed. Anyone familiar with my other posts will be aware this machine was purchased new in 2002 and has been with us ever since. Z-axis Rack and pinion was replaced circa 2009, Vacuum Pump, ISA Card and Arm Board were all replaced in 2011. This machine was in daily use up to delivery of our new machine at the end of Oct 2012.
Machine was serviced by Versatronics/VSMT up to 2010. Unlike other machines you see on eBay or YouTube, all the covers etc are still intact and tidy.
Feeders:
10*8mm = 3
7*12mm *= 1
3*12mm,5*8mm = 1
Vib Feeder = 1

We are located in Welshpool, Powys.
Happy to answer any questions or supply pictures if needed.
We believe offers IRO £5k would be fair but will happily take ANY other offers into consideration.

RV Hardware / O-Rings, Drive belts etc
October 11, 2012, 10:45:44 AM
Not in anyway affiliated with them but, recently needed some new feeder belts and acquired them from http://www.polymax.co.uk/ pricing seems good even compared with what I could find on the bay (& significantly less than DC used to ask for) and they came next day. Wasn't entirely sure what size would work best so tried 84mm ID 2.5mm CS nitrile rings, so far its quite clear these work much better than the 3mm CS belts I was using before and tbh I suspect may well have been what was originally supplied on the machine. Could possibly be worth trying a smaller inner diameter however, I arrived at 84mm by chopping an existing belt and measuring it on a ruler which clearly won't have given the best measurement.
