RV Hardware / Re: Feeder controller board redesign
December 19, 2024, 12:11:38 PM
Hi Trev,

Thats a good question.
I am thinking initialy I am after a few boards to try out and tinker with.
If this works out well then I would probably want to retrofit most of our feeders down the line.
I have a cache of chinese arduino megas collecting dust in my stores from old venture which would be ideal.

We still use our RV a lot for certain jobs and I am on a bit of a mission to fix or improve a number of the known issues we suffer with the feeders which prevent an operator walking away from the machine while it is running.

It would also be nice to add some features to the feeders which would make life easier.

Hello Trev,
I was wondering what happened to your controller project.
I am interested in changing the drive boards in our old workhorse's feeders.
It would be good to have a drive board that does ramping or smooth as we do find certain components can jump around.
Did you have any plan to make these boards available to others or was it just a pet project?

RV Hardware / Is the RV forgetful? saving settings
January 16, 2020, 10:42:22 AM
Hi,

I have noticed in the passed that randomly settings will revert in the RV software, which can be extremely frustrating.
Am I right in thinking that settings and calibration are only saved permanently when RVplace is closed successfully?

Thank you

RV Hardware / video capture card
January 16, 2020, 10:36:29 AM
Hi,

Does anyone know much about the video capture card used on the RV?
We bought a couple of machines earlier this year, one of which was spares only but we would like to resurrect it.
The big problem is that the video capture and DSP cards are missing.

Will the RV work with a PCI video capture card or does it need to be an ISA one?

Thank you

Hello,

Does any one know where I can get a suitable video capture card for an RV1S?
Also any chance anyone has a dsp card going?

Thank you

RV Hardware / Re: O-Rings, Drive belts etc
March 22, 2018, 10:56:00 AM
I know this is an old sticky, but thought I would add some useful information.
I have recently been trialling some new belts for feeders.
For us the best belts are presently the silicone ones.
They grip the best and also don`t break down in sun light.
Presently we are using 2.62mm x 82.22mm
These were supplied by www.easternseals.co.uk
Silicone 70 FDA O-Rings BS102 to BS178 Cross Section 2.62mm - BS152S70FDA SILICONE70 FDA 82.22 x 2.62mm RED .
Less than 30p a piece plus P&P.

I have also just ordered some more which are 2.62mm x 75.87mm
I will post after i have tested these smaller belts.

I hope this is useful for someone.

Hi Phono,

Thank you for the quick reply.
I am interested in all three sizes.
So am i right in thinking T6 is for 0402 T1 0603 and T2 0805?
Do you have 2 of each?

Hello Phono,

Do you still have nozzles for sale?
We are in desperate need of the smallest ones. and the next size up.

RV Hardware / Re: Feeder communication
January 21, 2015, 12:12:55 AM
Hi guys,

Tonight was much more successful.
Last night I was having troubles remembering the correct dip settings for the different feeder positions so that didn't help.
My main problem was that I was using a serial extension lead which has an issue.
I hooked up with the right cable, confirmed my dip settings and hey presto.
So next thing is grabbing a micro to interface my fuji feeder.

Thanks again for all the info.

Hello phonoplug,

Thank you for all the information just what I needed.
I got to have a bit of a go with it this evening but unfortunatley no luck yet.
Will try again tomorrow.

I am starting by trying to control a versatronics feeder with a computer and realterm.

RV Hardware / Feeder communication
January 18, 2015, 03:58:39 PM
Does any one know how the RV communicates with the feeders?
Im given to understand that the feeders have an RS232 driver.
I am assuming that the RV sends a serial command which includes 3 things which bank, which lane and index.
I am intrested in knowing because I am adding a single lane feeder to my RV.
I was going to operate in auto mode with a "break beam" setup, but I would much rather have the RV operate it.

Many thanks to any one that can help.

RV Software / feeder bias drifting?
August 12, 2014, 10:09:47 AM
Hello this is my first post here.

We have an RV1S.
An issue we have from time to time is that we do the initial setup on each feeder i.e. ref1, ref2 and the individual feeder bias.
Then later I find that all of the bias for the tape feeders have gone out by the same amount.
I am not sure if this effects the vib feeders, because they are larger components it doesn`t really create a problem.
Does the RV software have some sort of self correction for picking up components that can cause the bias to drift?
We have checked to make sure that the feeder carriers are secure.

Many thanks
