Title: Ultra-cheap reflow - toaster ovens & other kitchenware....
Post by: Mike on August 27, 2010, 12:53:01 AM
This  toaster oven from CPC (http://cpc.farnell.com/sanyo/sk-wq3uk/oven-grill-toaster/dp/OE05571?Ntt=sanyo+oven) works pretty well - nice big window to see what's happenning, good for boards up to 200x160mm.
Has elements top & bottom.
Ideally use with a variac or triac controller but manual on/off control to adjust temp is doable with care.

Typical - just as I was planning to do a 'cut & shut' with two of these Sanyo ovens back to back to increase board size, the bastards have discontinued it. Bugger!

There's a couple of 'proper' smallish ovens on Grove, including a Mekko CR300 just like we have used for years. Never going to be quite that small or cheap but one can at least get an excellent profile closely matching paste and component data sheet specs.

For the amount I use it, I couldn't justify the space for an inline oven.
The 'cut & shut' option looked good as it would have excellent visibility through the two windows.
Looks like it's time to unearth & fire up the old commercial pizza oven I bought on ebay a while ago....
