Title: RV Head light mod
Post by: Mike on October 30, 2015, 06:39:50 PM
For a while I've been looking for some side-emitting LED tape to stick on the inside of the head cover to help see thinsg when settingt up feeders.
Recently found this stuff, sold for car light modding : Search ebay for "side emitting LED tape".
Obviously needs turning off during placement to avoid confusing cameras - I just put a small toggle switch on the top of the head cover. There is a convenient 12V supply on the arm PCB.

The sticky backing on the LED tape doesn't feel very strong so I used some thin VHB tape to help hold it down.

I have done this, works really good. Thanks for posting.

I have also put a LED strip along the metal bar over the middle of the machine, this works really good for inspecting the PCB once built

If you pull the silicone waterproofing layer off, the strips will last much longer.
The silicone causes the LEDs to run hot and they fail prematurely.

Lesson learned the hard way    ;)
