I am having trouble with my RV4s machine powering up, when i turn the PC on the 4 lights on the card inside should flash together, right? The problem im having is the LED on the card closest to the back of the PC hangs and then flashes in a different sequence. Any ideas what this could mean?
Also after letting the PC boot up i wait power the RV4s bt nothing happens and i just get a series of "Write readnotbusy error" messages untill im told to correct the fault and restart the machine at witch point the arm will sometimes jerk backwards. Power cycling the PC and machine sometimes corrects the fault but as you can imagine this is a bit of a pain and does not always work. Any ideas to my problem would be much appreciated

Its a DSP card fault. I had exactly the same thing and I have heard of others experiencing it too. Oddly it seems to happen more often at colder temperatures, though I don't believe this to be due to dry joints - I have tested quite a lot!
I can supply a new DSP card (yes, new, not re-con) if you need it. PM me.

Could it be the DSP EPROMS dropping bits perhaps?
I think there are some areas of the PCB design that aren't great. I did look at some of the via holes but didn't prove anything for sure.
Which reminds me I think it may actually be something to do with the DSP chip itself. A while ago I built up a new board with new parts except the DSP chip which was salvaged from an old board, and it still played up when cold. I've searched the datasheet and I'm sure there is no temp sensor inside the DSP, yet it predictably plays up below a certain temperature. Almost like its meant to... hmmm.
